If you are planning to disconnect the front brake calipers, front brake hoses or the rear brake hoses for more than a few seconds, it’s an incredibly good idea to blank the pipes off straight away.
If you don’t cap them off, it doesn’t take long for air to get into the system. That means unusable brakes and the requirement of MB Star diagnostics to properly bleed the system if that air gets into the ABS pump.

So, to save yourself hundreds of pounds and a lot of work for 2 people, just cap the pipes off. You don’t lose any brake fluid and no air gets in.
