Rain & Light Sensor Gel Pad

If you change the windscreen on your smart, you’ll find out the the rain and light sensor has a horrible sticky pad between the sensor and the screen. All it does is remove the reflection from the inside of the screen so the sensor can actually see out and work out of there’s water on the screen. Without the sticky pad, the sensor won’t work.

So imagine my surprise when my local Mercedes parts dealer couldn’t supply a new one. On my hunt for a replacement, I found a German manufacturer with a slight twist on the design.

Instead of a horrible sticky pad, these are clear silicone pads that deform and do the same job without unnecessary adhesive and the possibility of trapped air bubbles. You just place it on the sensor, take off the protective cover and push the sensor into position.
